Mumbai, 14 August 2010 Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan launched the Hindi soundtrack release of the upcoming movie “Robot” in Mumbai on Saturday (14 Aug.) The film – one of the most expensive and eagerly-awaited Bollywood releases of 2010 – stars Bachchan’s daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the female lead and Bollywood superstar Rajnikant as the male lead. The movie, which is also being produced in Tamil and Telugu languages, is directed by well-known filmmaker Shankar and the film’s music has been composed by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. “This is a very special film, because Shankar told me the story about ‘Robot’ about 8 years back,” said Rahman. “I was thinking now Bollywood has made so many films and they are really so high in the game and what is he going to make… I saw the movie and it really moved me and I thought what an interpretation to have a Sci-Fi movie in India and have a very organic integration to our culture,” he added. The movie is about a scientist who creates a robot which looks exactly like him. Rai Bachchan described the big budget sci-fi flick as “special” and said a lot of hard work went into making the film. “This movie ‘Robot’ in the run is a very very sincere effort by the entire team… it’s a film that has taken two years in making. We as a team believe that, should be, definitely be quite a landmark in our cinematic experience and every effort is taken to make it just that,” she said. Aishwarya’s mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan …
